Hello Neighbors,
September has arrived here at 1515 South Van Ness and work continues for the concrete deck on Level 2. Ever since the original mat slab concrete pour back in July, we’ve split the project into two concrete halves – an east side and a west one. That’s why you might notice that the west side has concrete in place with workers walking on it. The east side still has rebar being installed with its own concrete pour occurring next week. This progression of starting with the west side and completing the east later for concrete pours will continue until we reach the roof in the coming months.
Update for September 12th
In the past week, we have completed the concrete pour on our Level 2 West area and have installed the rebar for columns and walls in the Level 2 West area. At our Level 2 East area, we have already installed the formwork deck, laid out mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP), and installed half of the rebar. We have been performing some work in the street along South Van Ness over the past week. This work has involved relocating some of the PG&E underground conduits in preparation for our future utilities’ installation under the sidewalk.
If you’re walking around San Francisco, you’re likely walking above underground conduits beneath your feet. Underground conduits are protective pathways installed below ground that carry utility lines, including PG&E’s electric ones. A conduit is typically a PVC, fiberglass, or steel pipe that creates a safe, durable route underground for wires and cables.
Over the next few days, we will pour concrete at the Level 2 West columns and walls. We will also complete the MEP and rebar for the Level 2 East area and pour the concrete in that area as well. The next major concrete pour will occur next week for the Level 2 East area. Then it’s on to Level 3!
