Hello Neighbors,
Back on March 24th, our entire team came together at 1515 South Van Ness to celebrate the topping off of our beautiful new community. We thanked the over 130 workers on site who have worked tirelessly to bring the project from dirt and rocks all the way up to 9-stories high. Typically, the final structural beam is signed by everyone and then placed in the building to be permanently housed. Since rebar and concrete are the structural skeleton of our building, we signed a wall right behind our future community room to keep the spirit alive by those who helped construct 168 future homes here in the Mission.
Update for April 10th
In the last couple of weeks, we have completed the two major roof concrete pours as well as the roof curb concrete pours. That now leaves us with only a few concrete-related activities remaining, most of which are either in the interior courtyard area or along the sidewalks. With that end to major concrete work, we have dismantled the two concrete placing booms. The tower crane will remain up for a few more months to complete the lifting of our major equipment to the roof.
The activities on the exterior façade have been in full swing, with Z-girts (also known as ‘green’ girts) being installed in the coming weeks. The Z-girts, together with backer board, are the supporting elements for the exterior wall tile. Metal lath/plaster and window installation are the other exterior facade activities you will see over the next few weeks.
A Z-girt is a Z-shaped metal strip mounted on a building's exterior walls that holds insulation and siding in place while keeping them separated from the main structure. The backer board is a rigid panel installed behind exterior cladding to provide a flat, stable surface for attachment and an added layer of weather and moisture resistance.
As the exterior continued to wrap the building openings, the MEP rough-in continues inside, followed by insulation and drywall activities proceeding in May.
