If you’ve walked by the project recently, you’ve probably noticed a pretty dramatic transformation taking shape.
July has been a big month for the building’s exterior. Tile and plaster installation has been moving at full speed, and for the first time, the building is really starting to look like the finished product.
The South Van Ness elevation is the furthest along, with tile and plaster work there nearing completion. Scaffolding on that side is expected to come down in mid-August, giving the neighborhood its first real reveal of the completed exterior.

Work is continuing around the rest of the building, with exterior tile and plaster expected to wrap up by mid- to late August. As each side is completed, the scaffolding will come down with it, so the full exterior will be revealed in stages over the coming weeks.
There has also been major progress up on the roof. Installation of the roofing system and rooftop equipment is nearly complete, bringing the project’s heavy lifting phase to a close.
That means it is also time to say goodbye to the tower crane, which has been a fixture of the neighborhood skyline since the early days of construction.

The tower crane is scheduled to be dismantled over the weekend of Saturday, August 1, and Sunday, August 2. The work will be completed using a mobile crane staged along the South Van Ness side of the project, so neighbors should expect some added activity, equipment, and traffic coordination in the area that weekend.
We’re also excited to share that the project is approaching one of its biggest milestones yet: the transition from temporary construction power to permanent building power, expected in early August.
Since our last update on the building’s green tags, PG&E, our electrical subcontractors, and the broader project team have continued working through the final coordination, inspections, and approvals needed to make that transition possible.
We are now very close to the building drawing its own permanent power for the first time. It has been a long time coming and reflects months of behind-the-scenes work by a lot of people.
There is still more work ahead, but the building is entering an exciting phase. Over the next several weeks, neighbors will begin to see the exterior revealed, the tower crane removed, and several major construction milestones completed as we continue moving toward the finish line.
