Hello Neighbors,
Happy Halloween and Día de los Muertos to our Mission District community!
As October comes to a close, we’re excited to share another month of progress at Casa Adelante 1515 South Van Ness.
From finishing touches inside the building to colorful new additions outside, there’s plenty happening as we move closer to completion!
️October Construction Highlights
Construction continues to move forward at Casa Adelante 1515 South Van Ness!
Inside the building, residential apartments on the lower floors are progressing through punch-list inspections, with crews addressing remaining items and conducting follow-up walkthroughs to verify completed work. Meanwhile, construction continues on the upper floors (Levels 6 through 9), where crews are working toward completing the apartments ahead of scheduled inspections throughout November.
Outside, crews are making progress on the building’s courtyard, where work is underway to prepare the space for future landscaping and outdoor gathering areas. Once complete, the courtyard will also provide a connection between Casa Adelante 1515 South Van Ness and the neighboring Casa Adelante 1296 Shotwell senior housing community.
We’re also excited to share progress on the building’s future community space! While it’s currently serving as a break room for the hardworking construction crews, the space is being prepared to eventually welcome community meetings, programs, and neighborhood events.
Bringing More Art to the Mission!
You may have already spotted some new color overlooking Cesar Chavez Street! The building’s first mural is officially complete, adding another beautiful piece of public art to the Mission District. And there’s more on the way! Preparations are underway for the second mural along the 26th Street side of the building, with painting expected to begin in November.
Meanwhile, just down the road, local artists at Precita Eyes are busy bringing another piece of artwork to life. Their colorful mosaic is being carefully assembled in their studio and will eventually become part of the building’s public art collection.
We’re excited to see these spaces and artworks come together and become part of the neighborhood!
Looking Ahead to November
November will bring continued progress on residential interiors, building inspections, and landscaping, along with the start of the next mural installation.
As we celebrate the season and the traditions that make the Mission District so special, we want to thank our neighbors for their continued patience and support.
Wishing everyone a safe Halloween and a meaningful Día de los Muertos!
